Dough Nuts! Clarifications and FAQ

This page contains rules clarifications and card errata, as well as some general questions. If you have a question that's not listed here, please feel free to contact us at info@utimegames.com and we'll be happy to try to clear things up for you.

A bus full of children? Doughnuts? Are you sure you double-checked the physics on that?

Yes, yes, and yes. If an Evil Mad Scientist kidnaps a bus full of kids, this is the only rational solution.

When donating doughnuts, can I "make change" in the common pile?

No. Doughnuts in the common pile have to remain there, unless a card specifically takes them out.

What is the difference between the Sprinkler and the Frosting Machine?

The Sprinkler gives you an extra $25 per CARD that's donated, and the Frosting Machine gives you an extra $25 per DOUGHNUT that's donated. This makes the Frosting Machine much more valuable.

What happens to doughnuts on the Doughnut Fryer or Bake Rack when Exploding Store is played?

Those doughnuts are still technically part of the local stock, so they are shuffled and redistributed along with the rest of them. Even if the player with the Doughnut Fryer or Bake Rack gets the same card back, they cannot re-place it on that equipment until their turn.

If a player who owns the Sprinkler (or other equipment that increases the value of donated doughnuts) is forced to donate all their doughnuts (via Overwhelming Public Pressure, for example), are those donated doughnuts increased in value?

No. Equipment is only usable on a player's turn, unless the equipment specifically states otherwise (Charity Front being a good example of such an exception). However, the affected player could still play an Action card to increase the value of their doughnuts in response, such as Chocolate Filling or Marketing Campaign (provided they're able to play an Action card at the time).

When money gets rounded down to the nearest $100, where does that excess actually go?

This depends entirely upon the age of the player. If the player is younger than 21, it goes to buying candy and video games. If the player is older than 21, it goes into... um... *ahem* entertainment expendatures *cough*. Like, maybe a nice trip to Vegas or something. Whatever your little heart desires.

Do doughnuts donated through the Charity Front gain other bonuses to their value? (Such as through a Filling card or the Sprinkler)

No. Doughnuts going through the Charity Front are donated by the Front itself, and therefore are not suceptible to having their value changed.

When do I collect the extra $100 from the Cash Cow?

This is collected during the "Collect Resources" turn phase. Since your "Do Stuff" phase comes after this, you don't get to collect the extra $100 until your next turn, when you would normally collect the $100 (and doughnut from the pile, and refill your Action cards). The same logic applies to the extra doughnut produced by the Mini-Doughnut Machine.

What happens to the draw piles when they're exhausted?

The Action and Equipment piles are reshuffled when they become depleted. The doughnuts pile does not. There are easier play variants that alter this - refer to the Variants page for more details.

What do I do if I have a play question that isn't answered here?

First, try to come to some sort of agreement based on what feels rational and just keep playing. Dough Nuts! isn't too complicated, and it's usually pretty easy to figure something out that's amicable for all involved. Afterwards, go ahead and send us an email at info@utimegames.com with your question, and we'll do our best to clear that up.
